Patricia--I agree that the scene where Mr. Neville outlines his "superior" scientific theory is one of the most appalling in the film. I imagine the film makers want the viewer to see just how unreasonable this effort to be so scientifically just is! And you are correct that the scene shows just how the Europeans went about wiping out the native people.
